Key Responsibilities
- Create and implement comprehensive procurement strategies for ocean freight and 3PL partnerships that align with overall business objectives.
- Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with top-tier third-party logistics providers, negotiating contracts to maximise value and service quality.
- Oversee the management and optimisation of contracts to ensure compliance, performance, and cost-effectiveness throughout the procurement cycle.
- Lead initiatives focused on achieving procurement savings while maintaining high standards of quality and service delivery.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential procurement risks associated with logistics and supply chain operations.
- Collaborate across teams to ensure procurement strategies are effectively integrated and supported throughout the organisation.
- Monitor market trends and supplier performance, driving continuous improvement in procurement practices and processes.
Qualifications and Experiences
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, or a related field; a master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., CIPS, APICS) is desirable.
- 10+ years of experience in procurement, with at least 5 years in ocean freight or logistics category management.
- Proven track record of managing strategic supplier relationships, particularly with ocean freight carriers, within a dynamic and competitive market landscape.
- Strong knowledge of ocean freight pricing cycles, market dynamics, contract negotiation processes, and industry trends.
- Experience in strategic procurement, including large-scale sourcing projects and delivering significant cost savings.
- Familiarity with global freight networks, supply chain operations, and e-sourcing platforms, with a demonstrated ability to navigate complex supplier markets and secure optimal partnerships.
